Mental Attitude: Facebook Addiction? According to Dr. Cecilie SchouAndreassen, some users of Facebook have developed a dependency to the socialnetworking site.  “Facebook Addiction” is more common among young peoplewho are anxious and socially insecure, probably because those who areanxious find it easier to communicate via social media than face-to-face. Diet: Black Pepper and Fat. Black pepper has been used for centuriesin traditional Eastern medicine to treat gastrointestinal distress, pain, inflammation and other disorders. A new study found that Piperin,the pungent-tasting substance that gives black pepper itscharacteristic taste, can block the formation of new fat cells. Exercise: Strong Bones! Osteoporosis affects more than 200 million people              worldwide, yet many are unaware they are at risk. The disease hasbeen called the silent epidemic because bone loss occurs without symptoms andthe disease is often first diagnosed after a fracture. Osteoporosis is morecommon in women, but men also develop it, usually after age 65. Young menwho play volleyball, basketball or other load-bearing sports for 4 hours aweek or more may gain protection from developing osteoporosis later in life.Men who increased their load-bearing activity from age 19-24 not onlydeveloped more bone, but also had larger bones compared to men who weresedentary during the same period. Dr. Trevor Heid (D.C.)

About Dr. Heid:

Dr. Trevor Heid is originally from Seattle, WA, but grew up in Glendale, AZ. Dr. Heid is married with 2 kids. Sports are a huge part of his life, and always have been. Dr. Heid played baseball, football, basketball, track and golf at Cactus High School. During football his junior year, he suffered a serious low back injury. He went to a chiropractor for the first time and learned how chiropractic really works. Through treatments from his chiropractor, Dr. Heid was able to finish the football season and continue to play baseball. Baseball being his first choice of sports, he pursued a collegiate and professional baseball career. While playing in the minor leagues in the Seattle Mariners organization, he decided to become a Doctor of Chiropractic when his playing career was done.

Dr. Heid attended Dixie State College and ASU West for the majority of his pre-requisites to chiropractic college. He attended Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, OR, where he earned his B.S. in Human Anatomy and his Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) degrees. With his background in sports, Dr. Heid loves to help young athletes continue to play their respective sports. His practice also concentrates on treatments for the whole family.
